Calibration Technologist

Fonterra

CALIBRATE your career at FONTERRA NZ and work at the cutting edge of Process Analytic Technology (PAT).

The Calibration and Statistics team provides Fonterra with world class PAT support, primarily based on Near Infra Red instrumentation and practical and relevant statistical modelling and advice. Utilising your knowledge of statistical concepts you will develop, coordinate and maintain Calibration and Statistics databases, interfaces and associated queries.

Key to successfully managing Fonterra's integrated network of instruments is the ability to think outside the square while working in a structured, method-based environment. A good communicator with an affinity for analysis, you are adept at contributing effectively within a multi-disciplinary team to identify, develop and implement world class practices to ensure optimum performance in all aspects of a company's operations.

Strongly analytical you will have a good grounding in mathematical and statistical skills in conjunction with the ability to self manage whilst working under pressure to meet deadlines. Using your numerical aptitude and sophisticated computer skills as a starting point, we'll add to your repertoire all you need to know about advanced chemometric modelling techniques.

Your ability to effectively work across the Fonterra's business units will allow you to build expert technical knowledge and develop an understanding of the business constraints that impact PAT. With a current drivers license and passport ready to go, expect plenty of national and some trans-Tasman travel.

Tertiary qualifications in science, mathematics, information systems or related discipline combined with excellent analytical skills and problem solving skills are essential for this position. You'll have a good grasp of basic statistical concepts, and have an interest in mathematical and Visual Basic for Applications programming.

Ideally you will also have some experience in basic database construction and webpage or application development. Prior PAT experience and experience working with formalised quality system would also be very beneficial.
