We seek a PhD-qualified applied mathematician or statistician to develop mathematical theories for understanding the compositional properties of bulk material, and apply them to develop new acceptance sampling methods to assure conformity and batch quality compliance of dairy products.

Position Overview
Fonterra (http://www.fonterra.com) and DairyNZ (http://www.dairynz.co.nz) are joint participants with the NZ Government in Primary Growth Partnership (PGP, http://www.maf.govt.nz/news-resources/faqs/faqs-primary-growth-partnership). The Dairy PGP programme 'Innovation to transform the dairy value chain' aims innovation activities directed at both sides of the farm gate.

A post-doctoral fellowship sponsored by the PGP scheme, coordinated through the Riddet Institute, Massey University (http://riddet.massey.ac.nz/), is now open for a highly motivated applied mathematician or statistician interested in the acceptance sampling of manufactured dairy products. The position is to be held in the Statistics and Bioinformatics group, Institute of Fundamental Sciences (http://ifs.massey.ac.nz/) at Massey University, New Zealand. The successful candidate will develop new acceptance sampling methods to improve conformity testing and assure batch compliance for manufactured dairy products under the supervision of Dr K. Govindaraju.
