The Position

We are seeking to employ a Post Doctoral Fellow to carry out research as part of the Operations Research group. The group includes researchers with expertise in scheduling, combinatorial optimisation and stochastic modelling. The work carried out by the group involves a mix of commercial outcome directed applied projects and strategic research leading to publication in academic journals and conferences.

You will work on a range of projects with the opportunity to gain experience with some of the industrial projects of the group and to carry out strategic research and publish in areas aligned with the applied work. The research areas of most interest to the group are infrastructure network optimisation, parallel optimisation algorithms and stochastic programming.

You will be mentored by senior scientists as part of CSIRO’s Postdoctoral Fellows Program which aims to train early career scientists for a research role.

Location: Clayton, Victoria
Salary: $75K - $82K per annum plus 15.4% superannuation

Tenure: 3 year term

To be successful you will have a:

A PhD in Operations research or related discipline.

Demonstrated ability to carry out research and publish in the area of Operations Research with an interest in applied/industrial research.

Strong knowledge of integer programming methods and algorithms, with the ability to both formulate and solve (mixed) integer programming problems.

Evidence of ability to implement computationally efficient optimisation algorithms in C/C++ or Java
