Research Scientist

CSIRO, through its Division of Mathematics, Informatics and Statistics, are seeking a research scientist to develop quantitative methods for biosecurity applications

Position Overview

We are seeking a talented quantitative researcher to take an exciting role in our team of environmental and agricultural statisticians in Canberra. The successful candidate will be working primarily on the application of quantitative methods to biosecurity applications. The CSIRO is seeking to deepen its abilities to undertake quantitative research underpinning biosecurity decision making. Areas of research include modelling invasion pathways of pests and pathogens, and making inference on the dynamics of eradication programs. The work is multi-disciplinary, with staff from CSIRO Mathematics, Informatics and Statistics, and collaborators from other CSIRO divisions. We are looking for someone with a PhD or equivalent qualification in statistics or mathematics, or demonstrable high level quantitative skills in a relevant scientific discipline with a track record in the application of mathematics and/or statistics to real world problems.

This is an indefinite position based in Canberra.
