Applications are sought for PhD study commencing in the academic year beginning February 2013. Topics will be based around the Medicine in Australia: Balancing Employment and Life (MABEL) longitudinal survey of 10,500 doctors, which provides opportunities to research a wide range of topics including doctors labour supply, job satisfaction, retirement, waiting times, geographic mobility, specialty choice, discrete choice experiments, and survey methodology (www.mabel.org.au ). University scholarships are available for domestic and international students. The survey is funded by the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Medical Workforce Dynamics for 9 annual waves between 2008 and 2016. The Centre is based within the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research at the University of Melbourne, with close collaboration with Monash University. Applicants need an undergraduate degree with honours, or a masters degree, that includes strong statistics or econometrics experience.
