  • Academic Level A-B: $55,640 - $93,992 plus 17% superannuation
  • Full-time, ongoing position based at the Hawthorn campus

    Swinburne's Faculty of Life and Social Sciences offers an extensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. We have an opportunity for a Lecturer in Statistics at either Academic Level A or B to join the Faculty and teach undergraduate and postgraduate students in Statistics.

    In this position you will have the opportunity to teach students and assist in the development of initiatives within the Statistics discipline. At level A you will teach undergraduate students, at level B you will teach undergraduate and postgraduate students, provide supervision to fourth year and postgraduate students and participate in the research activities of the faculty.

    Skills & experience

    At Academic Level A you will need a doctoral qualification in statistics or substantial progress towards completion of a doctoral qualification. You must also have substantial experience in the online delivery of units of study in the statistics discipline and demonstrated experience in tertiary teaching, including a record of co-ordination, teaching and curriculum development.

    It is essential that you have experience with leading edge best practices education, a high degree of organisational and administrative skills, demonstrated resourcefulness, initiative and ability to meet tight deadlines whilst maintaining high standard of interpersonal communication skills. You must also have the ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary environment and have sound knowledge of computers and standard software packages.

    At Academic Level B you must have an earned doctoral qualification in statistics and have advanced knowledge in the areas of applied statistics. You must have substantial experience in tertiary teaching including coordination, curriculum development and ability to teach online courses.

    You must also have experience in academic leadership and excellence in developing subjects or programs (including online) with the implementation of best practice in education. You will have the ability to design and conduct independent research projects and be able to communicate research outcomes within a broader team environment. You will have a sound understanding of the organisational and management processes and sound knowledge of statistical approaches.
