Both components have provision for the applicant to undertake methodological development arising from problems encountered in these collaborative projects. There will also be training opportunities for the applicant to build their skills in statistical genetics for plant breeding.

There will be an opportunity for the applicant to establish research collaboration both nationally and internationally, in particular with researchers at the National Institute for Applied Statistics Research Australia at the University of Wollongong, the Wageningen Agricultural University in the Netherlands and James Hutton Institute, Dundee, in the UK.
