Associate Professor, Mathematical Science

    RMIT is a global university of technology and design, focused on creating solutions that transform the future for the benefit of people and their environments.

    Situated within the College of Science, Engineering and Health, the School of Mathematical and Geospatial Sciences draws together disciplines involving the collection of data, the analysis of data, data security, and the understanding and optimisation of systems through modelling and visualisation. The School has more than 60 academic staff and over 70 postgraduate research students. Many staff members are active in the Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute, the Australian Mathematical Society, and the Institution of Surveyors Australia. RMIT is a founding member of the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute.

    Reporting to the Head of School, the Associate Professor - Mathematical Science will be expected to be an active researcher. This will include supervising research students; undertaking and publishing high quality research, and applying for research grants. The appointee will be required to develop and deliver courses in the Mathematical Sciences.

    As the successful incumbent, you will be expected to provide leadership in contributing to the strategic goals of the School and RMIT. These goals include enhancing our national and international reputation through the quality of our research and the programs we deliver. Our plans also include strengthening our engagement with industry and expanding the delivery of our programs offshore. You may also be given special responsibilities for managing staff.

    You will have strong leadership skills, a sound background in the mathematical sciences and a good track record in research. As the successful incumbent, you will also have expertise in an area that aligns with or complements existing strengths. A substantial international network of academic links is expected.
