Primary Purpose of Position

To provide research methods and statistical advice around design, methods and data analysis to academic research staff and to postgraduate research students through personal consultation, small group discussions, and the development or presentation of regular workshops.

Duties

The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

Teaching

Develop and maintain documentation on commonly used statistical methods and frequent enquiries;

Help develop a series of targeted workshops throughout the year on research design and statistical methodologies that respond to frequent assessments of the needs of academic staff and their postgraduate students;

Contribute throughout the year as a guest lecturer to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and seminars in research methods and quantitative/qualitative data analysis; and,

Where appropriate, participate in the supervision of honours research students.

Research

Provide research methods and statistical advice and support to academic staff to assist them in publishing in top ranked journals;

Assist academic staff in preparing relevant sections in external competitive research grants;

Assist postgraduate students in applying the most appropriate research designs and statistical tools for their research theses;

Assist staff and students with the selection and use of statistical software; and,

To provide advice or be able to develop expertise around advice in qualitative data analysis using popular qualitative packages

This position is a 50% position initially for 2014 but may be extended. The job is located at the St Lucia Campus of the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.
