South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute

The School of Population Health, Division of Health Sciences, is seeking an enthusiastic and able statistician to work on a portfolio of genetic epidemiology projects, including genomewide association studies and investigation of gene-environment interactions.

The position will be based at the new South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute in Adelaide (http://www.sahmri.com/ ), contributing to research themes on Heart Health and Nutrition and Metabolism.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in important research areas, help to identify the contribution of genetic and environmental factors on health. The statistician will work within genetic and life-course epidemiology and to analyse data from large datasets. These will include genomewide data and extensive information on disease biomarkers and indicators for lifestyle and other environmental factors.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with leading international investigators to develop and apply their skills and to use a range of research methods, within the context of an international multidisciplinary research group.

You will be expected to carry out meta-analyses and data analysis for various projects, with strong contributions to the write-up of scientific papers and reports. You will also assist with other analyses, providing an excellent opportunity to develop broad expertise as a statistician and create links with leading international institutions and investigators.

To be successful you will have postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline and strong quantitative skills and knowledge of research methods in statistics.
