IN A NUTSHELL

You are responsible for using quantitative methods to support evidence driven decision making across the whole company.

YOU MIGHT LOVE THIS JOB IF…

The only thing you love more than data is turning it into advice and seeing that advice followed. Whatever your tools (R, Weka, SPSS, Python, something else we've never heard of…) you understand that inferences are only valuable if we can turn them into actions. You are cautious enough to understand how much credence to put in your beliefs, but confident enough to tell us when we could be doing something better.

If you were working for us, here are some of the things you would have done last week:

  • Investigated what causes UK & German visitors to behave differently from US & Australian visitors on the Bellroy site, pulling data from Google Analytics, Google Adwords, and various other sources.
  • Applied statistical methods including machine learning and Bayesian networks to better inform our ad spend across various markets.
  • Planned an experiment to discover how valuable different product features are to our target demographic.
  • Prioritised a large number of potential projects using a Value Of Information approach.
  • Communicated your findings to the production, operations, and website team leaders, and worked on implementing changes.
  • Changed your mind on some of your beliefs based on new evidence.
  • Brainstormed ways to implement better business processes or reporting solutions that gets up-to-date information in front of the people regularly making marketing and operations decisions.

We'd love to see knowledge of statistical methods, experience in applying data analysis to a business, a devotion to self improvement, and a positive approach to work. You should be highly computer literate and able to learn and apply new tools and techniques regularly.

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Familiarly with creating statistical models using tools such as R, Weka, SPSS, or Python Ability to work with other vendors or contractors to achieve desired results Ability to extract and transform data from a variety of data sources
