This role is based in the Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmaceutical Policy (PPP) Research Group, Faculty of Pharmacy. The PPP is an independent multidisciplinary research group undertaking a program of work examining the use and impact of medicines in routine clinical care using population-based routinely collected health data. The research group is funded by grants from the NHMRC, Cancer Australia and Cancer Institute NSW, including the recently awarded NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Medicines and Ageing (2014-18). The role of the data manager-biostatistician in this group is fundamental to the day-to-day running of the group and in supporting research outputs. Associate Professor Sallie-Anne Pearson heads the group. The line manager for the role will be the Academic Biostatistician.
We are seeking to appoint a Data Manager-Biostatistician to provide data management and statistical analysis and support to pharmacoepidemiological research on behalf of the PPP Research Group.
To be successful you need to demonstrate:
Essential:
postgraduate qualification in epidemiology, biostatistics, or public health or other relevant field
understanding of key issues and experience in data management and quality control
skills in biostatistical analysis including multiple regression and logistic regression techniques and ability to use SAS statistical software
excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, email, internet) and ability to format documents and draw plots, charts and graphs using software.
Desirable:
experience in the design and conduct of epidemiological research
experience in additional statistical software packages such as Stata or MLwiN
understanding of the Australian healthcare system and NSW ethics and research governance processes relevant to the use of routinely collected data for health research
experience in preparation of ethics applications.
