We are seeking to appoint energetic, highly motivated research academics in the Centre for Health Research at the level of Associate Research Fellow.

The Centre for Health Research is part of the School of Medicine and is located on the Campbelltown campus of the University of Western Sydney. It has a specific focus on large-scale, multidisciplinary research to tackle major health challenges for Western Sydney, and similar communities nationally and globally. The Centre has unique expertise in using large, linked health datasets and applying innovative analytic techniques (including multilevel modelling, methods for spatial and geographic analysis, data mining, microsimulation and mixed methods), and in working in partnership with health services and policy agencies to drive change.

The successful applicant(s) will work on one or more of the Centre's current NHMRC-funded projects, which include:

  • Outcomes, Services and Policy for the Reproductive and Early Years (OSPREY): an NHMRC-funded capacity building program in health services research that is using linked health data to examine policy-relevant questions relating to health services for mothers, infants and children.
  • Seeding success: identifying factors that contribute to positive early childhood health and development in Aboriginal children: an NHMRC-funded Project that is using linked data about child health and development to investigate how social factors, perinatal and early childhood health and features of services and communities promote positive early childhood development in Aboriginal children.
  • Assessing preventable Hospitalisation Indicators (APHID): an NHMRC Partnership Project that is using linked data from the 45 and Up Study and Medicare to explore relationships between use of primary care and potentially preventable hospitalisations.

    The successful applicant(s) may also work on commissioned and partnership research projects involving a range of health services and policy agencies.

    Remuneration Package: Academic Level A full time equivalent $82,569 to $99,756 p.a., (comprising Salary $69,772 to $84,295 p.a., 17% Superannuation and Leave Loading).
