    About your environment

    Cancer Council Victoria has been leading efforts against cancer since 1936 through world leading research, prevention, support and advocacy programs. The Cancer Epidemiology Centre (CEC) develops and maintains high quality resources for epidemiological research and evaluation. The CEC runs five research programs including the Melbourne Collaborative Cohort Study (Health 2020) and the Australian Breakthrough Cancer Study as well as programs for prostate cancer, diet & nutrition and rare and under-researched cancers.

    About your opportunity

    We are seeking a motivated Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow who are pursuing careers as independent epidemiologists or biostatisticians to join the CEC. Your roles will be to conceive, formulate and design research projects in collaboration with peers. You will design and conduct, or supervise, statistical analyses of existing epidemiological data, manage research projects, prepare submissions and grant applications and obtain ethics approvals. Whilst developing and maintaining collaborative relationships, you will write papers for peer reviewed journal publications and deliver conference presentations. The Senior position will provide advice to internal and external agencies within areas of professional expertise and take a leadership role in contributing to the strategic functions of the Division.

    All about you

    The Research Fellow position is for a recent doctoral graduate in a relevant discipline with demonstrated experience in in a research-related role. You will have a sound understanding of epidemiological theory and research methods. With an ability to develop and contribute to the development of research projects and protocols, you will have the capacity to write grant applications, refereed journal publications and present research. You will maintain strong collaborative partnerships by utilising your effective communication skills and a willingness to work independently or as part of a team.

    The Senior Research Fellow position is for an experienced postdoctoral graduate. With a relevant PhD from a recognised university and substantial experience in in a research-related role, you will have an excellent understanding of epidemiological theory and research methods. With an ability to undertake outstanding research and produce high quality research outcomes, you will have a demonstrated record of obtaining significant external grants for research, and a strong record of publishing in high impact journals. You will maintain strong collaborative partnerships by utilising your effective communication skills and a willingness to work independently or as part of a team. Your experience supervising and managing research staff will enable you to assume a leadership role within the Division.

    What we can offer you

    The Research Fellow is a full-time position until June 2017 and provides a salary within range $71,387 - $84,473 pa plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefit of not-for-profit salary packaging.

    The Senior Research Fellow is a full-time permanent position and provides a salary within range $91,707 - $108,374 pa plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefit of not-for-profit salary packaging.
