    About your environment

    Cancer Council Victoria (Cancer Council) has been leading efforts against cancer since 1936 through world leading research, prevention, support and advocacy programs. Cancer Council, with the Victorian Department of Health, participates in the Victorian component of the International Cancer Benchmarking Partnership (ICBP), a unique global partnership of clinicians, academics and policymakers. This partnership is the first of its kind, seeking to understand how and why cancer survival varies between countries. The Cancer Council and the Department will contribute to ICBP5, which aims to determine whether observed differences in cancer survival between the participating countries are associated with variation in treatment, co-morbidities or other factors.

    About your opportunity

    We are seeking a motivated Research Fellow who is pursuing a career as an independent epidemiologist or biostatistician to join the Cancer Epidemiology Centre (CEC) within Cancer Council. In additional to overseeing the preparation of data for submission to ICBP5, you will lead collaborative work between the Department and the CEC to identify research questions, design and conduct appropriate analyses to address these questions and, based on the results generated, write reports to inform policy making and manuscripts for publication. You will also supervise an Analyst who will assist with data cleaning and analysis.

    All about you

    You will have a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a relevant discipline with demonstrated experience in in a research-related role and a sound understanding of statistical methods. With experience in statistical data analysis and the interpretation of results, you will have demonstrated ability to write and present authoritative reports and publications. You will maintain strong collaborative partnerships by utilising your effective communication skills and a willingness to work independently or as part of a team. The ability to develop and contribute to the development of analysis plans and project briefs is essential.

    What we can offer you

    This full-time, fixed term two-year position provides a salary within range $71,840 - $84,470 pa plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefit of not-for-profit salary packaging.
