The School of Population Health, the newest school in the Division of Health Sciences, will consolidate and advance the University of South Australia's capacity for training research professionals in the analysis of complex population-level data to inform health and social policy.
The University is seeking an influential mid-career academic researcher tojoin the Health Economics and Social Policy Group (HESPG), in a research leadership role. The HESPG sits within the School of Population Health and has a strong evidence / policy / practice translation focus. Under the leadership of Professor Leonie Segal, the HESPG works closely with government and the community controlled sector across several themes; notably primary care, indigenous health, health workforce and services planning, mental health and early childhood/child protection. The research of the group contributes to health economics methods, economic evaluation, health system reform and health and social policy development.
The new appointment will work collaboratively on current research projects and build a profile of new research supported by Category 1 grants, producing high-quality publications and supervising postgraduate students.
To be successful, you will have a PhD in health economics or other relevant field. You will also have discipline-based training and skills in health economics and in one of econometrics, epidemiology, social policy and mathematics. You will have had experience leading multi-disciplinary, applied health economics research teams and good contacts with government, clinicians and/or other providers. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to develop networks and strategic partnerships are essential.
