Melanoma Institute of Australia (MIA) is dedicated to minimising the impact of melanoma through innovative research, treatment and education programs. It evolved from the Sydney Melanoma Unit which was established in the early 1960's to provide a world class treatment facility for melanoma patients. The Institute is now based at the Poche Centre a comprehensive cancer centre for melanoma patients. Located in North Sydney, the Institute is a world leader in melanoma research and education. The Melanoma Research & Biostatistics Group is a key research program within the Institute. Responsible for the management, analysis and collection of clinical information, the work of this team underpins the majority of clinical research activities within the Institute.
At the core of this team is the Melanoma Research Database (MRD). This database was established in the 1960s and now contains clinical information for over 43,000 patients. MRD is the largest single collection of melanoma information in the world.
The Institute is seeking a Senior Statistician to join the Melanoma Research & Biostatistics Group. The role will be required to manage a small team and will coordinate the clinical research projects that are undertaken. It is expected that the successful candidate will assist in the development, design and analysis of research projects, using their statistical expertise to assist with the development and publication of high quality, world leading melanoma research. The role will utilise the large data collection that has been built through the melanoma research database and will support melanoma research projects undertaken at the Institute and within the University of Sydney.
