Data Analyst

Mater Research has a rich history of collaboration, integrating with Mater Clinicians on a range of studies. In the past few years the institute has worked hard to enmesh its research with Mater's clinical services to provide better outcomes for patients and the wider community. To support this inspiring work, an exceptional opportunity has opened up for a Data Analyst to join the Data Management and Analysis team of the Mater Research Office, in a full time capacity (76 hours per fortnight), on an initial 12 month contract. This position will support the development and conduct of research studies to ensure the high quality nature and timeliness of Mater clinical trials and research projects are maintained.

In this role you will:

  • Extract data from numerous database types, based on information provided by researchers
  • Assist with data cleaning and manipulation in preparation for data analysis where appropriate
  • Provide advice to researchers regarding design of data collection forms
  • Review data collection forms and spreadsheets devised by researchers, and assessing whether the forms are suitable
  • Provide advice to researchers on data management techniques, as well as reviewing data collection mechanisms
  • Design, generate and prepare data collection forms for automatic scanning capability
  • Assist researchers with development of electronic surveys using Checkbox
  • Process (machine-reading) the completed forms and compile the raw data
  • Participate in education of researchers regarding study design, data management and statistical analysis.

    To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Undergraduate degree with a strong statistics component
  • Experience with data spreadsheets and features including spreadsheet design and manipulation of data
  • Experience in using statistical software programs, such as SPSS, STATA, R or SAS
  • Knowledge of, and practical experience using, Microsoft Office, specifically MS Word, MS Excel and MS Access
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Demonstrated integrity with respect to confidentiality to official and customer interests

    Salary range: MMRI Level 6 - $64,692.58 per annum plus superannuation
