Business Planning and Operations Manager

The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is Australia's only public hospital solely dedicated to cancer and one of an elite group of hospitals worldwide to have its own integrated cancer research program and laboratories.

There is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Trial Centre manager (or equivalent) to lead our Centre for Biostatistics and Clinical Trials (BaCT). BaCT provides and coordinates statistical, regulatory and informatics support in the design, planning, conduct, analysis and reporting of clinical oncology research studies.

The Business Planning and Operations Manager will be responsible for leading the business operations, financial and resource alignment, ongoing research service development and managerial direction. The successful incumbent will be the primary contact for new work enquiries from internal and external clients.

We are looking for the following experience and skills:

  • A tertiary qualification in medical, health/health science or statistics (business management qualification highly regarded).
  • Extensive knowledge of current clinical research management practices (experience managing oncology trials highly regarded).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and establish clinical trial quotes and budgets.
  • Expertise in the application of GCP, and all applicable regulatory laws and guidelines including those of the NHMRC, TGA, FDA etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and inspire staff to deliver on organisational and service outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically design and implement systems and work practices that support continuous improvement.
  • Proven experience in the application risk management principles.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven aptitude in problem solving, decision making and time management to meet deadlines and work across multiple projects.
