The school is widely known for its strengths in biostatistics and epidemiology.

    We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Lecturer (level B) or Senior Lecturer (level C) in the discipline of biostatistics to make a significant contribution to our teaching and programs. This is an outstanding opportunity for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer with a strong interest in biostatistics to continue their professional development with a school renowned for its high quality research and teaching.

    In this role you will:

  • teach introductory and more advanced biostatistics to postgraduate students enrolled in degrees in biostatistics, public health and clinical epidemiology, using both face to face and on-line delivery
  • take on responsibility for unit of study coordination
  • conduct research in biostatistics, public health or clinical epidemiology, including presentations and peer-reviewed publications
  • supervise Master of Biostatistics and other postgraduate coursework students' research projects.

    In addition, for a Senior Lecturer (level C) appointment, you will:

  • contribute to curriculum development
  • recruit and supervise postgraduate research students
  • pursue a leadership role in research, including grant acquisition.

    To succeed in securing this role you will have:

  • a higher degree in biostatistics or applied statistics
  • experience teaching biostatistics or applied statistics
  • good English language communication skills; and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
  • evidence of publications in peer-reviewed journals (desirable)
  • experience with online teaching (desirable).

    In addition, for a Senior Lecturer (level C) appointment, you will possess:

  • previous experience in curriculum development and administration
  • an established publication record in high impact journals and demonstrated capacity for research grant acquisition
  • experience with research student supervision.

    Interviews for this position are expected to take place in the second half of January 2015. The successful applicant must be in a position to teach and coordinate a unit of study in Semester 1, 2015.

    Level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience.
