In 2015, Victoria University of Wellington will become the first New Zealand University offering a programme in actuarial science. We seek a dynamic person, with a professional actuarial qualification and preferably experience in tertiary actuarial education and research to help implement the programme, to work with the profession in New Zealand and overseas to ensure its successful accreditation and to develop a postgraduate programme in line with the University's strategic plan.

The appointee willwork closely with colleagues in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Operations Research, where they will be based, as well as with the School of Economics and Finance, which shares responsibility for the actuarial science programme. They will be expected to undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, to contribute to supervision of postgraduate research students and to develop a research programme in keeping with the university's emphasis on high-quality scholarship.

Consideration will be given to a part-time appointment in the case of a candidate who wishes to maintain professional practice.
