Professor

University of Sydney Business School

The Discipline of Business Analytics at the University of Sydney Business School is seeking to appoint a Professor into our group. The area of "Big Data Analytics" is experiencing significant growth in both the business world and the academic sector. "Big Data" centres or institutes are opening up across the sector in Australia. The Discipline of Business Analytics aims to be at the forefront of this growth as it occurs at the University of Sydney. The Business School-funded Big Data Analytics research group was set up in 2014 and the successful candidate will be expected to play a senior role in the management of this group, helping to develop and build it into a multi-faceted entity that maintains a strong research focus whilst building and incorporating an "industry research lab". Related to that, the Business School and the discipline strategically plan to increase their level of industry and business-engaged research and success in so-called category 2 and 3 research funding.

To help fulfill the aforementioned aims, we are currently seeking to appoint a Professor in Big Data Analytics, with expertise in statistical learning, machine learning, data mining, data science, analytic methods for big data, or a related field. The successful candidate will have a strong record of successful collaboration with business.
