We seek a dynamic research-oriented professional statistician to lead the university's Statistical Consulting Service. The position is based in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Operations Research, whose academic excellence is internationally recognised, consistent with the university's position as New Zealand's leading university for research quality.

The service provides advice across the whole university whose Faculties include Humanities and Social Sciences, Commerce, Architecture and Design, Education, Law, Engineering and Science.

The appointee will be expected to undertake statistical consulting for both university and external clients, undertake limited postgraduate teaching and to contribute actively to research projects and publications. During the term of the appointment a review of the service will be undertaken, in which the appointee will play a critical role, to determine its future scope and organisation. The level of appointment will reflect the appointee's experience and academic record.
