An exciting opportunity has opened up in our Statistics, Design & Analytics team at Nielsen Television Audience Measurement. We are seeking an enthusiastic Trainee Statistician to join our team based in Lane Cove (Sydney).

From Day 1 in this role, you will play a part in ensuring our large scale survey databases are delivered to the highest quality on time. In this role your focus will be on providing ongoing operational and analytical support to the team.

The primary operational tasks of this role will require that the successful candidate can demonstrate their capability in the following:

  • Maintain telephone sample frames databases
  • Process daily and weekly data survey collection results
  • Construct periodic databases of completed responses along with associated tracking reports and client deliverable reports

    In addition to these operational tasks, the Trainee Statistician must also demonstrate their analytical skills applied to the interpretation of survey results, design and review of the questionnaire, and enhancements to the service as a minimum.

    Our ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a statistical or market research related field
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Sound working knowledge of statistical programming languages (SAS, R preferably)
  • Fluent in statistical techniques such as sampling, weighting, modelling or data imputation preferably with a tertiary degree in Statistics

    Key skills and attributes:

  • An ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Coordinate tasks and deadlines, dealing with multiple projects simultaneously
  • An ability to learn quickly, explore and develop recommendations through analysis
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
