Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Statistics

We seek a dynamic academic wanting to join one of New Zealand's most respected and innovative Statistics programmes. The successful applicant will have experience in university teaching, a strong research record and will be ready to play a leading role in the development of Victoria's programmes in statistics and data science. The Statistics group is highly connected within the University and beyond so there is the opportunity to work with colleagues from across the University, including in biological, social and earth sciences, mathematics, computer science and engineering.

The appointee will undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in statistics, especially in the applied statistics programmes. They will be able to promote learning among students with both strong and weak mathematical backgrounds. They will contribute to supervision of postgraduate research students, seek external research funding and maintain a research programme of international standard, in keeping with the university's emphasis on high-quality scholarship.

The Lecturer or Senior Lecturer will also maintain and build on the University's engagement with public and private sector stakeholders in statistics, including through externally funded research.
